In the July 2003 issue of Vanity Fair, she was recognized as one of the years' hot teen celebrity stars. In 2004, Vega completed filming two short films: Sleepover and State's Evidence. In the Lifetime TV film Odd Girl Out as a cyberbully, she appeared in 2005. In 2006, she starred in another made-for-TV movie, Walkout; and finished filming Remember the Daze, which was released in a few theaters in April 2007. She completed filming Repo! The Genetic Opera, which premiered in 2008. Aram Rappaport was the writer and director of Helix at Chicago. Filming began March of 2008. She had originally been cast for Robert Rodriguez's 2009 Robert Rodriguez film Shorts. However, due to the fact that she was traveling to Australia for filming Broken Hill, the role as Vega in Shorts required to be recast. Her replacement was Kat Dennings. Penny is her Broadway character from Hairspray. She played Ruby Gallagher in the ABC Family sitcom Ruby & the Rockits which featured Patrick Cassidy as well as David Cassidy. Vega is Wick an actor in The Devil's Carnival from 2012, a film by director Darren Lynn Bousman. Screenwriter Terrance Zudunich was previously a part of Vega as part of Repo! The Genetic Opera. 12 Vega appeared alongside Spencer Grammer, Kathryn Morris and Rob Margolies in 2br/1ba throughout the year of 2012. Vega starred also in The Pregnancy Project on Lifetime Channel as well as completed her animated film The Clockwork Girl. The Mine, a film that was filmed by Vega and released in the year 2010, was only shown in a tiny viewers. Vega was the voice of Christina in the animated series Unsupervised in addition to having a role in Royal Pains.
